Ninety-four years
behind the chair
John Hồ opened this shop in Matthews in 1999. Between him, Tommy Phạm and Rachel Watson there are more than ninety years of hair behind these three chairs. Book the one you want by name.
Owner · Barber
John Hồ
“Real men see real barbers.”
Forty-two years cutting hair, twenty-six of them in this city. John opened the shop in 1999 at Monroe and Highway 51 in Matthews Township, stayed twenty-three years, and moved to Weddington Road three years ago.
Flat tops, skin fades, longer cuts and the hot towel shave. If you’ve been going to a Matthews barber since the nineties, there’s a good chance it was John’s chair.

Master Hair Stylist
Tommy Phạm
“Beautiful hair starts with a great hairstylist.”
Forty years of women’s hair in Saigon before moving to the United States five years ago, including years styling for stage and runway shows in Vietnam. Cutting, color, highlights, and treatment work to bring damaged or over-processed hair back.
Forty years of experience, then qualified again after arriving in the United States: Tommy sat and passed the California board exam in both barbering and cosmetology, and carried that license across to North Carolina. Four decades of salon work is not something you usually find in a neighborhood shop on Weddington Road.

A picture of the style you want is the fastest way to get exactly that — it settles length, layers and shape in about four seconds. We serve guests in English and Vietnamese, and a photo works in either.

The shop
Twenty-six years in Matthews
We’re at 3116 Weddington Road, in the Providence Plantation shopping area on the Matthews side of south Charlotte. Two locations, one owner, since 1999.
The chairs are shared. A man getting a flat top, a woman getting color, a four-year-old getting their first haircut — that’s a normal afternoon here.
We serve guests in English and Vietnamese.

Booking, plainly
Who you get, and what it costs
John, Tommy and Rachel are the shop’s own team. They are the three on our booking page, at the prices listed on this site, and the time is held for you.
Independent barbers also rent chairs in this building. They are their own businesses — own books, own regulars, own prices — so they aren’t part of our online booking and their prices are set by them, not by us.
Walk-ins are welcome either way. Just ask who you’re sitting with and what the service costs before it starts, and everyone knows where they stand.
Your stylist confirms the price with you before the service starts, never after. If your hair needs longer than the standard appointment, you’ll be told first and you decide.

Either is fine. The question worth asking on a walk-in is simply who is cutting and what it costs — same question you’d ask anywhere.

Questions
About the team
Who can I book online?
John Hồ, Tommy Phạm and Rachel Watson. Independent barbers who rent chairs here keep their own books and set their own prices, so they aren’t part of online booking.
Who does the hot towel shave?
John and Rachel. It’s a 30 minute appointment at $30.
What languages do you speak?
English and Vietnamese. Tommy speaks Vietnamese and is still building his English — bring a photo of the look you want and the language stops mattering.
Can I request a specific stylist?
Yes. Choose John, Tommy or Rachel when you book, or call the shop and ask for them by name.
